This policy explains what personal information is collected when you use this website or get in touch, why it is collected, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past, so it is kept as plain as the subject allows.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, the data controller is Taimi Venho, an AI adoption consultant based in Edinburgh, trading as a sole trader. If you have any question about your information, you can reach me directly at consulting@taimivenho.com.

What information I collect

I only collect information that you choose to give me. There is no account to create and no login. The site itself does not ask you for anything in order to browse it.

Information is collected in three situations:

  • When you send an enquiry. The enquiry form is provided through Google Forms. It collects your name, your email address, and whatever you write in the message. Submissions are stored in my Google account.
  • When you book a discovery call. The booking link is provided through Google Calendar appointment scheduling. It collects your name, your email address, and the details you add when booking, so that the call can be arranged and a calendar invitation sent.
  • When you email me directly. If you write to me at my email address, I receive your message and your email address, along with anything else you choose to include.

How I use your information

I use the information you give me to reply to you, to arrange and hold a discovery call, and, if we go on to work together, to carry out and manage that work. That is the whole of it.

I do not sell your information, I do not share it for advertising, and I do not add you to a marketing list. If at some future point I offer something like a newsletter, it would be a separate, optional choice that you would actively opt into.

Legal basis for using your information

UK data protection law asks me to have a lawful basis for using your information. Where you have contacted me about possible work, the basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. Where you have simply asked a question, the basis is my legitimate interest in responding to genuine enquiries about my services. You can object to use based on legitimate interest at any time.

Cookies and analytics

This website does not set tracking or advertising cookies, and it does not run visitor analytics such as Google Analytics. Because there are no non-essential cookies, there is no cookie consent banner; there is nothing for one to ask you about.

Two points are worth noting for completeness. The site uses Google Fonts to display its typefaces, which means your browser requests those font files from Google, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. Separately, I use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google's search results; this works from Google's own data and does not place anything on the site or track you as a visitor.

Third-party services I rely on

Running a small website means using a handful of external services. Each one only handles the information described above, and each has its own privacy terms:

  • Google (Forms, Calendar appointment scheduling, Fonts, Search Console): see policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Netlify, which hosts the website and keeps standard server logs that may include visitor IP addresses for security and reliability: see netlify.com/privacy.
  • Squarespace, which manages the taimivenho.com domain name: see squarespace.com/privacy.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where information is transferred internationally, those providers operate under the safeguards required by UK data protection law.

How long I keep your information

If we do not end up working together, I keep enquiry and booking correspondence for up to two years, in case you come back to the conversation, and then delete it. If we do work together, I keep the relevant records for as long as the work is active and for up to six years afterwards, which is the period that applies to business and tax records. You can ask me to delete your information sooner, and I will unless I am required to keep it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask me to:

  • tell you what information I hold about you and give you a copy of it;
  • correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your information, where there is no reason for me to keep it;
  • restrict or object to how I use it;
  • provide it in a portable format.

To exercise any of these, just email me at consulting@taimivenho.com. There is no charge, and I will respond within one month.

If you are not happy with how I have handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk. I would be glad to put things right directly first, but the route to the regulator is always open to you.

Changes to this policy

If the way the site works changes, for example if analytics are added later, this policy will be updated and the date at the top will change. The current version is always the one published here.

Getting in touch
